Many bloggers have published endorsements of candidates they will support when our convention elects a new president next week in Indianapolis. Here are the candidates I plan to support.
Second Vice-President: Dr. John Newland
I don’t much like being away from the pulpit on Sundays, but one of the highlights for me is the opportunity to enjoy [...]

Good Sense
My previous post was only intended to be an analysis of factors that led to the adoption of the motion offered by Rick Garner, but the comments quickly turned to analysis of the intent and effect of the motion itself. The more I read on this subject, the less adequate I feel to discuss it [...]
Why It Passed
If you’re reading this blog, you know all about Ben Cole’s Rick Garner’s motion to adopt a statement on the BF&M at the convention last week, including the fact that it passed with roughly 58% of the vote. Wade Burleson has devoted a deluge of text to the analysis of the debate of this vote, [...]
Why I Spoke
During the reports today of two entities, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and the International Mission Board, I asked questions during the time allotted of the presidents of those entities. While I’m happy that I was able to provide a hearty laugh to certain of my fellow bloggers, I thought I would share the reasons I [...]
Dr. Chapman
I’m sure you will hear this morning’s address from Dr. Chapman spun in a number of different directions, so I thought I would offer my spin as well.
I heard two very significant things said by Dr. Chapman:

A Large Day
Tomorrow (well, today) is a large day. It is the beginning of the actual business of the Southern Baptist Convention, and there is a lot that will happen. We will be called to order by our president at 8:15 AM, and at around 8:40 or so, the floor will be open for the offering of [...]
Arrival
Well, I’ve managed to reach my hotel, in an undisclosed location here in San Antonio. After a brief rest, I’ll be heading to the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center for the beginning of the SBC Pastor’s Conference.
I’ll post updates as time allows.
To San Antonio
This will be my last post before the convention. They say there is no such thing as a stupid question, but if there were, my dear, sweet wife, whom I love with all my heart, would have been guilty of asking me one earlier this afternoon as we were getting things ready to go:
“Are we [...]
Jackson
This is perhaps the longest day I’ve had lately, but it’s been a very good one as well. I left my house in southeast Oklahoma a few minutes before 5:00 this morning, and arrived in Jackson just after 2:00 this afternoon. My hotel room wasn’t ready (check-in isn’t ’til 3), but Art Rogers’ room was, [...]
San Antonio Concerns
Now that I’ve shared my lofty goals for this blog, which are symbolized by the new name, let me go in the opposite direction and share with you a reason I have concerns about what is happening in our convention.
Since before last year’s convention, I have been concerned about the upcoming convention in San Antonio. [...]
