How will the residents of Blog Town recognize each other in Greensboro?
For some, it will be easy. For example, if you see a guy witnessing in Starbucks, that’ll be Kevin. If you see a man berating someone for eating pork BBQ (abomination), that will be Art.
Some have pictures posted around, like Dorcas, Marty, or Wade.
But [...]

The Old Guard
I have believed for some time that this graphic illustrates what the likely outcome of the Southern Baptist Convention in Greensboro would be. It is easy to listen to each other day after day and begin to believe that, by sheer force of will, major changes will be made in Greensboro. But compared to the [...]
Thanks
This post is a special thanks to my friend CW (that’s him on the right, preaching at Lakewood) for designing my new banner and explaining to a slow learner like me how to get it in place. For an equally clever banner and some insightful writing that makes a great contribution to our SBC conversation, [...]
They’re Home!
When I left for Albuquerque last Monday, my family headed to Franklin, Tennessee for a family graduation. I came home last Thursday to an empty house. They’ll be home by the time you read this.
Thank God for safe travel, and the end of my lonliness…
Personalities
The five men pictured above all have some things in common. They are all Americans. They are all patriotic, educated, serious men. They have all been candidates for President of the United States. They were all defeated, some narrowly and some quite soundly. They were (or are) all United States Senators.
I remember political commentator George [...]
Miscellaneous News
It has been discussed on several blogs, notably SBC Outpost, that there is a potential conflict of interest regarding Dr. John Floyd’s election as chairman of the trustees of the International Mission Board. I emailed Dr. Floyd regarding this, and here is his response:
I am not sure what is meant by conflict of interest that [...]
The Task
In the last twenty-four hours, my blog has had unprecedented overseas traffic. I think it is fair to assume that the overwhelming majority of that traffic is generated by overseas personnel of the International Mission Board who are searching for information related to the Albuquerque meeting.
I have been given an entirely new appreciation for those [...]
Greetings from Amarillo
Well, I’ve made it to the middle of the Texas panhandle, and I’m not yet halfway home. I may not make it tonight.
So I’m in Amarillo, contemplating the Big Texan’s offer of the free 72 ounce steak dinner, if you eat it within one hour. According to their website, if you can’t eat it in [...]
Speechless…
I can tell by the traffic I have received today that there are great expectations within Blogtown related to what I have to report. As my wife would tell you, get used to disappointment…
I am left speechless by the appointment service I attended this evening at Hoffmantown Church. The testimony of those who are eager [...]
What a Day…
Tell me if I’ve had an interesting day:
1200 – 1300: Lunch with Jerry Corbaley
1400 – 1630: Mostly uneventful plenary session. New officers elected, including chairman John Floyd of Tennessee
1700 – 1800: Dinner with Wade [...]
