Catching Up

Catching Up

Well, obviously I’ve been a little busy lately. I was able to take a vacation with my family following the convention, and we had a great time (with the exception of that little transmission incident). We had some great experiences, from being nearly deafened by Phil Keaggy to having a laugh with Bill Gaither (he actually laughed later). I’ll be blogging here about these in coming days.

Before we left, our church conducted a one-day Vacation Bible School using a previous year’s Club VBS cirriculum (it was free, which is nice). So until I can write more, enjoy our Jungle Jaunt highlights:

I’m sorry, Wes, but there isn’t near enough wood paneling in that church for me to believe it exists in southeastern Oklahoma. Where is this, really?

I can’t believe you put that video up on the internet. Now the whole world can see me acting like a goofball. I guess it’s about time that the truth about me got out in the world.

    Paul,

Surely you noticed all the low-cost paper we used in our decorations. Folks in McCurtain County would question whether the home of the Wampus Cats qualifies to call itself “southeastern Oklahoma.”

    Wes,

Well….just don’t let the good people of McCurtain County question that too loudly or someone might go set a paper mill on fire or something.

If you get a chance, go take a look at the FBC Stringtown auditorium sometime. Five different types of wood paneling just in the sanctuary! When we remodeled the nursery in Atoka one of the first questions was, “What kind of paneling are you going to get?” When we told them we were going to use sheet rock you’d have thought we’d said something nasty about General Lee or something.
